Why can’t I see my units in Moodle (I am a unit convener)?

Moodle is linked to SAMIS. This means that courses are automatically created in Moodle when the “Module tutor” for a unit on SAMIS (normally unit convener) logs in.

Check with the person in your department who adds data to SAMIS (normally the departmental administrator) that the “Module tutor” field in SAMIS for the units you require is populated with the correct unit convener.

Instructions for adding module tutors are available at: http://www.bath.ac.uk/samis/manuals-assessments.bho/ass-7-2_setup.htm#x7×2x6
For any questions regarding SAMIS, contact samis-support@bath.ac.uk

When the “Module tutor” logs in to Moodle his/her units for the current semester will be created. Initially they will appear greyed out, which means unavailable to students. This can be changed by going in to the course settings in the administration block (normally on the left side of a Moodle course – see Figure 2 below), and under “availability” selecting “This course is available to students”.

Units for future semesters can be created by going into the Staff area and using the “Create your courses” wizard.

For further information see the attached guide “Creation of Moodle courses from SAMIS data”.

How can I get a unit created in Moodle?

Units are automatically created in Moodle from data in SAMIS.
